چکیده

The goal of this research was the systematic study and comparison divided individual effects UV light irradiation water leaching during artificial weathering. Spruce (Picea abies Karst.) Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) samples were irradiated by ultraviolet (UV) light. Another sequence treated with combination leaching. total extent treatment 20 days for both series samples. Time relation 2:1. chemical changes observed FTIR spectroscopy. difference spectrum used determination changes. Degradation lignin greater leached than pure suffered degradation spruce, produced higher absorption increase on region unconjugated carbonyls. carbonyl groups most responsive elements to more susceptible pine. Two bands at 1706 1764 cm−1 wavenumbers photodegradation. band sensitive cm−1.

Boron retranslocation in Scots pine and Norway spruce.

We previously traced 10B-enriched boric acid from shoots to roots to demonstrate the translocation of boron (B) in Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) and Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) seedlings. To gain a more detailed understanding of B translocation, we sought: (1) to demonstrate B retranslocation directly, by showing that foliar-applied 10B is located in the new growth after dormancy...

Dissolved organic carbon and nitrogen leaching from Scots pine, Norway spruce and silver birch stands in southern Sweden

The effects of three common tree species – Scots pine, Norway spruce and silver birch – on leaching of dissolved organic carbon and dissolved nitrogen were studied in an experimental forest with podzolised soils in southern Sweden. We analyzed soil water collected with lysimeters and modeled water fluxes to estimate dissolved C and N fluxes. Specific UV absorbance (SUVA) was analyzed to get inf...

Proteins in Action: Monitored by tr(time-resolved) FTIR spectroscopy

In the Postgenom era one of the remaining major challenges is the detailed understanding of protein networks within the living cell. Currently, there is a large gap between the detailed understanding of proteins in vitro and their description in interaction pathway maps in systems biology. In order to contribute to a more detailed understanding of protein interactions a combined approach of x-r...

Proteins in action monitored by time-resolved FTIR spectroscopy.

In the post genome era proteins coming into the focus of life sciences. X-ray structure analysis and NMR spectroscopy are established methods to determine the geometry of proteins. In order to determine the molecular reaction mechanism of proteins, time-resolved FTIR (trFTIR) difference spectroscopy emerges as a valuable tool. In this Minireview we describe the trFTIR difference spectroscopy an...

The Effect of Drying and Storage Conditions on Case Hardening of Scots Pine and Norway Spruce Timber

Case hardening is a feature of dried wood that causes the wood to deform (cup) after re-sawing and equalising the moisture content. VTT has analysed case hardening with the aid of the simulation model PEO and with experimental drying, conditioning and storage tests. Case hardening cannot be predicted by the moisture content gradient alone. However, the case hardening gap after drying to a high ...
